Lifelong learner, thinker,
and achiever.
I'm KFJ. By trade I'm a community manager, which in practice means I'm a strategist, researcher, facilitator, and systems thinker who specializes in people.
Many people hear community manager and think I run social accounts. While I do help edit and suggest content for social channels, that's more of an "audience" to manage (1 : many) rather than facilitating peer to peer communication that keeps people engaged. As a community manager, I'm more of a program manager, project manager, and evangelist with deep product understanding and concern for people.
I care about how people think, what makes them stay, and what motivates their behavior. I've built enough of a background in philosophy, psychology, and computer science to sit at the intersection of how people and systems work (thank you Symbolic Systems!) That overlap is where I do my best thinking, and where I believe the most interesting problems live.
I approach every project like a strategist and every community like a person: with patience, curiosity, and a lot of attention to what's actually happening beneath the surface. I love to bring people together, see individuals’ perspectives, and bring joy to others.
Who I am:
- An incredible listener. People seek to tell me things & aren't afraid to open up.
- Empathetic. I feel others' emotions & attempt to not take them on myself.
- A quick learner. I’m very coachable and open to changing my point of view.
- Consistent, cautious, and disciplined. When I set my mind to accomplish something, I get it done right.
What I work on:
- Community strategy and management
- Behavioral research and user insight
- Systems design and documentation
- Content, communication, and brand voice
